The Hangzhou Bay Bridge is the longest trans-oceanic bridge in the World (36 km or 22 miles long; six expressway lanes in two directions), although it does not have the longest cable-stayed main span, the bridge has two main spans, with a 448 m (1,470 ft) northern span, and a 318-metre (1,043 ft) southern span. After a decade of planning and design, more than 4 years of construction, and about US$ 1.5 billion investment, the Bridge was opened to the public on May 1, 2008.
The Golden Triangle is made up of Shanghai, Hangzhou and Ningbo - the area is booming into the hottest economy zone in China. The Yangtze River Delta contributes to 21% of the national gross domestic product and have 8 percent of the total population in China.
